Drew Tebbut

TEENS HEAD COACH

My name is Drew Tebbutt, I started training at CrossFit Dux early upon its opening in 2014. The head owner and coach Gregg Wilson has been my coach and mentor. My goal is to show the same passion and integrity to the CrossFit Kids “School of Dux” program that he shows in the CrossFit Dux program.

Making kids move better and enjoy having a healthy lifestyle. My life experience lies with children as I am a qualified primary school teacher and have been teaching for the past five years, along with numerous coaching roles in sport, rugby league, touch football etc and most importantly CrossFit.

Stephanie Gallon

KIDS HEAD COACH

I started CrossFit back in June 2014 after seeing an ad on facebook and instantly feel in love with it! When i found out CrossFit kids was a thing, I knew I wanted to be involved in that! I completed my CrossFit level 1 in July 2016 with the goal of doing the CrossFit kids course later that year in September.

I have now officially been coaching the mini athletes of the gym since October 2016. Working as a physiotherapist in the area of developmental peadiatrics means i am extremely passionate about getting kids moving and getting them moving correctly. I believe CrossFit is perfect for kids and teens. It targets so many areas of gross motor development and in a world full of technology, ensuring kids meet and build on these gross motor development areas is incredibly important.

My mission as a CrossFit Kids coach is ultimately to get them loving movement and fitness! If kids are having fun while exercising, they won't see it as exercise. I want them too grow into adults who care about their health and want to be better humans. Healthier, better humans who also just happen to know how to squat and pick things up correctly.

“IT IS EASIER TO BUILD STRONG CHILDREN THAN TO REPAIR BROKEN MEN & WOMEN”

— FREDERICK DOUGLASS

CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching Greg Glassman’s CrossFit to children ages 3-18. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.

CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. Further, the needs of second graders and high-school varsity wrestlers differ by degree and not kind; the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids. CrossFit Kids is designed to be minimalist; it is inexpensive and often requires little or no equipment, allowing a wide array of socioeconomic groups an opportunity to be physically fit and physically active throughout their lives.
